SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 32
(By Senators Dugan and Snyder)
Requesting that the bypass on the south end of Martinsburg,
located at rt. 9 east from the bridge of I-81, exit 12
eastward to the railroad track near Mountaineer Orchard,
inc., known as Kelly Island road be hereafter named "Apple
Harvest Drive".
Whereas, This state is proud of its over nine thousand acres
of apple orchards and the apple industry which brings millions of
dollars in revenue to the state each year; and
Whereas, The Legislature of West Virginia finds and declares
that there should be a suitable recognition of the apple orchards
and the apple industry; and
Whereas, This section of road is in place at Martinsburg,
West Virginia, requiring no new construction; and
Whereas, The aforementioned structure will serve admirably
as a recognition to the apple orchards and apple industry;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the bypass on the south end of Martinsburg, West
Virginia, located at rt. 9 east from the bridge of I-81, exit 12
eastward to the railroad track near Mountaineer Orchard, inc.,
known as Kelly Island road, be hereafter named and known as "Apple Harvest Drive", in public recognition of the apple
orchards and the apple industry; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the dDivision of hHighways be requested
to erect the appropriate signs designating this stretch of
highway in the aforementioned manner; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the clerk of this e Sentatate is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the director of
the division of highways, mMayor and city council of Martinsburg,
and to the Martinsburg jJunior cChamber of cCommerce.
